Go Africa Tiger Nuts are from a lineage of plants grown in Africa over fifteen thousand years ago. Tiger nuts, also known as earth almonds, yellow nutsedge or chufa are not actually nuts at all but rather edible tubers. They were once a diet staple in ancient Egypt. They have recently made a resurgence because of their delicious taste, being packed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals, and their many health benefits.
Tiger nut plants are incredibly sustainable. They can grow in most soils and moisture conditions and don’t require a lot of natural resources. Tiger nuts are Non-GMO, organic and grown by our farmers in west Africa. Go Africa is fair trade compliant with farmers and cooperatives in bringing their products to local and international markets. By local processing of its farm produce, African countries receive the economic value addition of manufacturing not just the main product, but also from manufacturing the by-products. This increases the economic stability of farmers and cooperatives, and factory workers and the communities where we operate.
